Living historian Chris Hart will present a program titled Four Dead in Ohio: Both Sides Now at the Dover Public Library on Wednesday, Oct. 26 at 6:30 p.m.

The program is part of the 2022 Tuscarawas County One Book, One Community Project, which is a grassroots community reading initiative organized by the Tuscarawas County Literacy Coalition, area libraries and schools and is now in its 15th year. This year’s book is “Kent State” by Deborah Wiles.

Hart’s program deals with the events and the aftermath of the Kent State shootings that took place May 4, 1970, when 67 shots were fired by the Ohio National Guard into a crowd of protesting students. Thirteen seconds later, four students lay dead, and nine others were wounded. Hart plays dual roles in the program, specifically those of student Alan Frank and guardsman Robert Hatfield as each tries to come to terms with the emotions of that day.

Call 330-343-6123 to register.

The Dover Public Library is located at 525 N. Walnut St., directly across the street from Dover High School.
