The Buckeye Career Center Biddy Cross Country Race is back for 2021. The race, for young runners in Tuscarawas and surrounding counties, will be Thursday, Sept. 9.

Onsite registration will open at 4:15 p.m. the day of the race in the BCC cafeteria, but participants are encouraged to register in advance. The first race will kick off at 5:30 p.m. and will feature girls in pre-k through third grade. The boys pre-k through third grade race will follow at 5:50 p.m. Grade 4-6 girls will begin at 6:10 p.m., and grade 4-6 boys will begin the final race at 6:30 p.m.

Every participant will receive a medal, and top-10 finishers in every race will receive a top-10 medal as well. Trophies will be awarded to the top finishing teams in each race, with the ceremony expected to begin at 6:50 p.m.

Race Penguin is again serving as the official timing company for the event, which features a course around the Buckeye Career Center campus. BCC energy operations students are instrumental in building and marking the course for the event.

Participants will run around Buckeye’s natural resources ponds and along the path that cuts through a wooded but cleared area. BCC students and staff will serve as course monitors to ensure the safety of all runners. In addition to medals, all participants will be offered water and fresh watermelon, grown by natural resources students, as they cross the finish line. BCC students also will have hands-on displays for families to visit during their time at the event.

The race is free, but participants are asked to preregister prior to the event by visiting www.BuckeyeCareerCenter.org or racepenguin.com/events/biddyxc/. Buckeye Career Center is located at 545 University Drive NE in New Philadelphia. Call 330-339-2288.
